Blaine-SLP Fire Department has apartment house drill

Units of the Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View Fire Department were dispatched to an apartment house in Mounds View which was the subject for a simulated fire, at the bi-weekly drills, Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

The situation called for a fire on the first floor and a toxic gas filling the building. Three pumping engines and a ladder company came in first, setting up host lines to extinguish the “fire” and ladders to rescue “Victims.”

Blaine bans motorized vehicles on Laddie Lake

The city of Blaine has banned the use of motorized vehicles on Laddie Lake.

The prohibition against the use of motorized vehicles includes snowmobiles. It was established to protect skaters on the lake, to protect the Laddie Lake Park and Laddie Lake as a pedestrian recreational area and to protect snowmobilers from open water accidents, city manager Les Johnson said.
