Santa Claus makes an appearance at Culver’s of Coon Rapids every Tuesday evening between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This year was no exception.
Santa was at Culver’s for 90 minutes visiting with children and giving them a candy cane Nov. 27, Dec. 4, 11 and 18.
This is the 10th year that the restaurant, located at Foley and Coon Rapids boulevards, has hosted Santa over the holiday season.
Linda Johnson, an employee at Culver’s has brought her daughter, Samantha, 9, to visit with Santa the past four years.
“She really enjoys it,” Johnson said.
The sleigh in which Santa sits to greet the children was restored by Jim Hannay, owner of Culver’s of Coon Rapids.
It was a sleigh in which his mother pulled him when he was a child, according to Hannay.
Made in Michigan before the days of motor vehicles, the sleigh was put away and not discovered until a few years ago in the barn of a friend of Hannay’s, he said.
The top was broken, but he restored that and the rest of the sleigh, according to Hannay.
Besides receiving a candy cane from Santa, children also went home with a book from a selection supplied by the Spring Lake Park High School Leos Club.
