New Year’s Eve comedy shows are planned at three locations Dec. 31.

Two shows will take place in Ham Lake, with The Stagebenders performing two shows at Majestic Oaks Golf Club and The Big and Tall New Year’s Eve Comedy Show being held at the Don Hansen VFW. The third show will feature Joe Lovitt at the Anoka American Legion.

“These shows are usually really fun,” said Scott Hansen, the comic who has set up the New Year’s Eve comedy shows.

“Audiences want to have a good time.”

The Stagebenders will perform from 7 and 9:30 p.m., with dinner served prior to the early show.

Gust Alexander and Kim Thomassen are an improvisational comedy duo that will present rapid-fire, award-winning comedy.

They are junior high school friends from Minneapolis that have been performing as The Stagebenders for 15 years.

The Stagebenders have won “The MTV Comedy Challenge” twice in a row and have appeared on “The Tonight Show,” ABC’s “America’s Funniest People,” MTV’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” the Paramount feature film “Trekkies 2” and the Coen brother’s “The Naked Man.”

Tickets for the dinner and show are $45 in advance and $50 at the door. Show only tickets for both 7 and 9:30 p.m. are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Majestic Oaks Golf Club is located at 701 Bunker Lake Blvd. N.E., Ham Lake.

“Four comedians taking the stage range in height from five feet to nearly seven feet and body shapes ranging from toothpick to maple tree, take aim at the nation’s obsession with what you are on the outside,” Hansen said in a press release.
