When the Anoka County Board considers user fees on a twice-a-year basis, the result is usually an increase.
That was not the case Nov. 13 when the county board considered staff and committee recommendations on a handful of user fees.
In one instance the fee was eliminated, others were lowered, while only a few were increased.
The county board took action following a public hearing at which no one appeared.
According to Budget Director Patti Hetrick, the proposed fees represent the actual cost of providing the service.
The parking fee for unreserved, uncovered parking in the Anoka County Government Center parking ramp was reduced from $19.50 to $10 effective immediately.
The Anoka County Library eliminated its Xerox copying fees of 25 cents because all typewriters have been removed from service.
But the library’s annual fee for a non-resident library card jumped from $45 to $60.
The Anoka County Highway Department won’t be increasing its road salt and sand fees for the 2012-2013 winter season.
While the Bunker Shop road salt fee remains unchanged at $61.96 a ton, the outshop charge drops from $71.11 to $71.01 a ton.
And both Bunker Shop and outshop road sand fees go down – from $18.34 to $16.21 for Bunker Shop and $27.49 to $25.56 for the outshop charge.
Two parks department fees will increase.
At Chomonix Golf Course driving range, the bucket of balls charge increases from $3 to $4, while the Riedel Farm Estate rental fee goes up from $80 to $85 an hour.
