Coon Rapids seniors rang in the new year early Monday (New Year’s Eve) – at 2:30 p.m. Some 150 seniors attended a New Year’s Eve party hosted by Coon Rapids Senior Services at the Civic Center.
Each senior was given a hat, noisemaker and necklace and three sets of appetizers were served, as well as non-alcoholic champagne.
Entertainment was provided by The Roe Family Singers, a band that blended folk, bluegrass, gospel and country music.
A basketball clock was used for the countdown, according to Kris Niebler, Coon Rapids Senior Services program specialist. “Many seniors don’t want to stay up to midnight, or they might not want to drive at night or be in crowded places,” Niebler said.
