Winners have been announced in Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s 2012 holiday lighting contest.
This annual event allowed residents to compete and display their holiday spirit through their lights, according to John Kocon, Coon Rapids Arts Commission member.
There were two categories – moving displays nontraditional and single feature, still lights, traditional – with the commission providing a first prize of $100 and a second prize of $75 in each category.
First prize in the moving displays, non-traditional, went to Tim Yohnk, 12052 Vintage St. N.W., with the second prize won by Sean Stadler, 10461 Quince St. N.W.
In the single feature, still lights category, Shelly Sullivan, 11231 Partridge St. N.W., took first place and Mark Johnson, 2707 113th Ave. N.W., was second.
Winners will also receive a certificate.
All entries were automatically entered in both categories.
Judging took place the week of Dec. 16 through 21 between 6 and 9 p.m.
Judges used score sheets to rate each property on visual appeal, overall impact, uniqueness, variety of decorations, safety and tidiness.
