With the lack of snow, the event has been postponed until Feb. 23.

This is the second year in a row the event, which brings together riders to travel on the Rum River from Anoka to St. Francis with stopping points in five cities, has had to be postponed.

Last year the event was postponed and later cancelled due to lack of snow.

The decision was made Jan. 15 to postpone the event after the forecasted snow failed to arrive.

“If we had gotten an inch of snow, the event would have happened,” said Jeff Weaver, committee member.

Without the snow, the river is glare ice, like the hockey rink, he said.

“We were in great shape for the event until it rained last week,” Weaver said.

The rain ruined a lot of snow related activities around the state, he said.

Although the trail ride has been canceled, the Blue Smoke Vintage Snowmobile Show and Swap will still be held at the Anoka County Fairgrounds Jan. 19.
