O’Grady named Wrestler of Week

• St. Cloud State redshirt senior Shamus O’Grady (Coon Rapids) was named Northern Sun Interscholatic Conference Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 21. Second-ranked in the nation at 184-pounds, O’Grady went 4-0 to improve to 26-1 this season and earned his third weekly honor of the season. He opened the week with a 16-4 major against Minnesota State Moorhead’s Matt Lewell on Jan. 17. He helped the top-ranked Huskies win three more dual meets at the Wisconsin-Parkside Ranger Duals in Kenosha, Wis. Jan. 19. Among the wins was a pin at 4:55 against top-ranked 184-pounder Adam Walters of Findlay. SCSU won the dual against eighth-ranked Findlay 31-7.

Hall named Player of the Week

• Bethel senior Taylor Hall (Blaine) continued a remarkable season helping the Royals win three key MIAC games against Hamline, Concordia and Macalester in six days to earn MIAC Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Hall averaged a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and one block per game while shooting .659 from the field and .733 from the free throw line. Bethel improved to 10-6 overall and 6-5, sixth place in the conference.
