District 11 maps out the next school year
The proposed calendar for the coming school year has been accepted by Anoka-Hennepin School District board members.
Turns out students will have school on two dates designated as official holidays: Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 (Columbus Day) and Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 (Veterans Day). That designation came about with a “conducting school on holidays” resolution approved unanimously by board members.
Other dates of significance in the 2013-2014 school year include the following:
• First day of school: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013
• End of first trimester: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013
• No school (parent-teacher conference): Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013
• No school (Thanksgiving): Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29, 2013.
• No school (winter break): Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014; school resumes Monday, Jan. 6, 2014
• No school (President’s Day): Monday, Feb. 17, 2014
• No school (staff development day): Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014
• End of trimester: Friday, March 7, 2014
• No school (spring break): Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 16, 2014
• No school (staff planning day): Monday, March 17, 2014
• Test date: Tuesday, April 15, 2014 (GRAD/MCA)
• Test date: Wednesday, April 16, 2014 (MCA modified)
• No school (Good Friday, Easter holiday): Friday, April 18, 2014
• No school (staff development day): Monday, April 21, 2014
• STEP Senior Recognition: Thursday, May 22, 2014
• No school (Memorial Day): Monday, May 26, 2014
• Transition Plus graduation: Wednesday, May 28, 2014
• Bridges/Crossroads graduation: Thursday, May 29, 2014
• River Trail Learning Center program completion: Friday, May 30, 2014
• Coon Rapids High School, Andover High School, Champlin Park High School graduation ceremonies: Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Mariucci Arena
• Anoka High School graduation ceremony: Monday, June 2, 2014
• Blaine High School graduation ceremony: Tuesday, June 3, 2014
• End of trimester: Wednesday, June 11
In all, there are 173 student contact days and 187 teacher duty days on the 2013-2014 school year calendar for Anoka-Hennepin School District.
