Two Andover alpine skiers competed in the state meet at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik Feb. 13.

Sophomore Ericka Copeland placed 29th with a two-run time of 1:25.86 (39.43, 46.43) and junior Courtney Schwartz placed 73rd with a time of 1:56.85. She recovered from a first run fall for a second run time of 43.57, 16th fastest on the afternoon course.

Huskies first-year coach Kelsey Fautsch said Copeland found a fast line through the course “and didn’t hold anything back. She has been skiing solid all year and was expected to finish in the top 30, so we were happy when she got 29th.
“They both skied well all year and it was a huge accomplishment to make it to the state meet. The hills were a little icy and rutted up as the race continued. The course conditions were not perfect for the Andover girls, but they tried their best.”
