A suspected intoxicated driver crashed into a Blaine Police squad car Thursday night (Feb. 21) on Highway 65.
Around 9 p.m. an officer was conducting a traffic stop and had emergency lights activated in the northbound lane of Highway 65 near the 125th Avenue bridge.
While the officer was standing outside the driver’s door of the stopped vehicle, the squad car was struck by a northbound pickup truck, according to information from the Blaine Police Department.
The suspect then continued past the officer, left the highway and came to a stop near the shoulder.
There were no injuries to the officer or the driver of the pickup, according to the Blaine PD report.
The suspect was taken into custody by the Minnesota State Patrol on suspicion of driving while impaired.
The accident is under investigation by the Blaine Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
