A 44-year-old Isanti man was arraigned Feb. 21 in Anoka County District Court on felony charges of domestic assault and terroristic threats.
According to the criminal complaint, Jack Leonard Williams’ ex-girlfriend accused him of choking her, punching her and threatening her life while they were driving from Isanti to Andover Feb. 20.
She told police that Williams at one point allegedly said he would slit her throat and on another occasion during the car drive threatened to shoot her and cut up her body and put it in a place that no one else would find.
Police allegedly observed fresh bruising to the woman’s arms and bruises and bumps near her eye while they were speaking to her.
Deputies located the car they were in and found a knife-like object on the floor and two pistols that were later determined to be pellet pistols, according to the complaint.
Williams was convicted twice in 2009 in Anoka County for domestic-related incidents and sent to prison for these offenses. He was convicted of violating an order for protection and violating a domestic abuse no contact order. These prior convictions are what led to this recent domestic assault charge being elevated to a felony.
