State wrestling: Krone, Burckhardt, Parsons remain on championship track

The end of the second day of competition at the state wrestling tournament found three ABC-Newspapers-area wrestlers still on pace to compete for state title.

Andover’s top-ranked Corey Parsons (41-5) reached the semifinals with a 1-0 win over unranked Ethan Loosbrock (31-4) of Chaska. Parsons faces second-ranked TJ Ohara of Tartan Saturday morning.

Anoka junior Brandon Krone scored an 11-5 win against Sibley’s Garrett Beaman in the second round at 152 pounds. Krone will face Willmar freshman Colten Carlson in the semifinals.

Coon Rapids senior Michael Burckhardt reached the heavyweight semifinals after a 14-8 win against St. Cloud Tech’s Jerrad Nieland. Burckhardt (36-1) faced Irondale junior Eriq Smith in Saturday’s semifinal match.

Anoka sophomore Matt Njos will face Willmar’s Augustine Hahn in the 182-pound consolation bracket first round Saturday.

Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony’s Danny Chlebeck will face Forest Lake’s Luke McCord in the 113-pound consolation bracket opener Saturday morning.

Coon Rapids ninth grader Josh Bryant, ranked eighth at 106-pounds will face No. 9-ranked Tanner Cole of Owatonna in the consolation bracket first round.
