Gary Levine is no longer the executive director of Free2B!, an Anoka County-based nonprofit organization that offers vehicle repair and donation services to people in financial straits.
According to Levine, he resigned Feb. 22, which was the day after the eighth annual Taste of Blaine, a Free2B! fund-raiser, at the National Sports Center.
Over the last few months the board and he decided this was the right thing to do with revenues being down, Levine said.
Levine wants to make sure Free2B! can keep going and he continues to support the organization that he has been a part of for over five years, he said.
“It was a mutual agreement,” Levine said. “It was not the best fit for me and I wanted to keep the organization whole.”
Prior to becoming the executive director Dec. 1, 2011, Levine served on the Free2B! Board of Directors for four years.
Levine took over the top spot from Cliff Korkowski, who had been the executive director the previous 10 years. Free2B! was incorporated in 2000.
Free2B! Board President Jim Kugler confirmed that Levine resigned and that the board accepted his resignation, but he was not authorized to speak any more about this matter.
When asked if Free2B! would hire a new executive director, he said the non-profit was in the process of looking for a new executive director.
