Coon Rapids club donates funds to 12 community groups

The Coon Rapids Rotary Club has donated $10,000 to 12 community organizations.

The donations made at the club’s Feb. 25 meeting are the result of the club’s fund-raising activities in the past year.

Chief among them was the club’s annual wine tasting, silent and live auctions event in October 2012 at the Harvest Grill.

The Coon Rapids Community Scholarship Association was awarded $1,500 for scholarships for Coon Rapids High School seniors.

Five organizations received $1,000 – Anoka-Ramsey Community College Foundation, Anoka Technical College Foundation, Mediation Services for Anoka County, North Metro Pediatrics and Stepping Stone Emergency Housing.

In addition, $850 was donated to Scout Troop and Cub Pack 516, which the Rotary club sponsors, and $650 went to Medical Teams International.

Grants of $500 were made to the Coon Rapids Crime Prevention Association, Coon Rapids High School Senior All-Night Party, Coon Rapids Snowflake Association and Emma B. Howe YMCA.
