Girls’ hoops: Eagles stop Anoka in state quarterfinals

No. 2 seed Bloomington Kennedy lived up to the ranking handing Anoka a 66-48 loss in the Class AAAA state quarterfinals at Target Center Wednesday afternoon.

Tornadoes junior guard Claire Lundberg had a game-high 16 points but Anoka (16-10) was held to just 29-percent shooting from the field and turned the ball over 22 times compared to Kennedy’s 9 turnovers.

Kennedy went on a run late in the first half to lead 32-21 at the break. Anoka came out strong in the second half and closed the gap to within one point, 32-31 after senior guard Abby Torgerson went strong to the rim for a lay-up less than three minutes into the second half.

Anoka came back by turning over Kennedy with strong defensive play while making its own baskets when it was needed.
