A rural icon, a farm barn, will be the focus of a Coon Rapids Senior Service program, titled “Heart of the Farm,” Monday, March 25, 9:30 a.m., at the Coon Rapids Civic Center.
Doug Ohman, freelance photographer and public speaker, will present a slide show of a rural journey around Minnesota exploring the farm barn.
The story of the farm barn is told through photographs and histories that will bring attendees back to the farm and explain the importance of the state’s rural roots.
Ohman will show photos of barn landmarks, dating back to the 1800s, built by hand in wood, stone, brick and metal.
Ohman has traveled throughout the Upper Midwest photographing historic architecture and his work has been widely published in magazines, calendars and books.
Over the past 10 years, Ohman has been working with the Minnesota Historical Society on the book series, “Minnesota Byways.”
A continental breakfast will be served for the event. Doors opens at 9 a.m.
Ohman will be available after the program for book signings.
There is a $3 cost. Sign-up by calling 763-767-6473.
