Coon Rapids estimates that it will spend $100,000 on bituminous street patching repairs in large areas this year.
The Coon Rapids City Council has ordered the advertising for bids on the project with a contract award at its April 16 meeting. Work is expected to begin in early May.
According to Dave Full, city project manager, the council contracts each year for street repairs throughout the city, primarily in areas to be seal coated and where watermain breaks have occurred.
Work comprises concrete, repair, bituminous street surfacing repair and turf restoration, Full said.
The bid is for the larger bituminous patching project.
The city will be soliciting quotes for the smaller contracts – concrete repair and turf restoration, according to Full.
Funding will come from a various city budget accounts – water utility fund, the storm water utility fund and the street reconstruction fund.
