To celebrate its accomplishment, the center hosted a special party featuring a lunch of green eggs and ham plus a surprise guest, The Cat In The Hat, who read his favorite book to the children. A representative from Reach Out and Read also stopped by the center to offer congratulations.

The day’s activities also include a “most green” contest, art projects, plenty of story readings and more.

Read Across America Day, sponsored by the National Education Association, is held each year to encourage a love of reading and books in young children. More information can be found at http://www.nea.org/grants/886.htm.
