The Anoka County website, www.anokacounty.us, has won a Sunny Award.
The Sunny Award is presented by the editors of Sunshine Review to honor the most transparent government websites in the nation.
These websites have scored an “A+” transparency grade on Sunshine Review’s Transparency Checklist.
This year, only 247 of the more than 7,000 government websites ranked by Sunshine Review earned a Sunny Award. Anoka County is the only county in Minnesota to receive the perfect A+ rating.
“We have worked hard to ensure that we are accountable to the taxpayers and transparent about how we use their tax dollars,” said Anoka County Board Chairperson Rhonda Sivarajah.
“Providing as much information as possible via our website helps us meet our mission to serve our citizens effectively and efficiently.”
The Sunshine Review uses a 10-point transparency checklist to evaluate the content of every state and local government website.
Anoka County was lauded for posting a wide range of content to the county website including a detailed breakdown of the annual budget, audit reports, contact information for elected officials, meeting agendas and minutes, lobbying expenditures and information about property taxes, permits and licenses, contract bids and other public records. It can all be found at www.anokacounty.us.
