The Anoka Alumni Letterman’s Club has announced who will address the group gathered at Green Haven Golf Course on May 28.
University of Minnesota Athletic Director Norwood Teague will be the guest speaker and add to the list of notables who have appeared at the club over the past 53 years.
This year’s banquet will once again include a silent auction. A live auction is also on the schedule this year with an autographed Zach Parise Minnesota Wild jersey and special Minnesota Twins tickets to be among the items up for bid.
Money raised from the auctions will go to support A Club Scholarships and this year’s scholarship winners will be announced around May 1.
Just like last year, previous scholarship recipients will address the club including the Class of 1988’s Tony Flint, who went on to play hockey at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Last year Nate Miller (Class of 1994) and Mike Knight (Class of 1978) shared their thoughts about the scholarship.
Anoka Letterman’s Club Board of Directors member Carl Youngquist (Class of 1960) said that the Billy Bye Activities Fund, which is separate from the Letterman’s Club gave $5,200 in scholarships to 42 students so they could participate in school activities this season.
