Andover residents and visitors from other communities are invited to check out the garage sales Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18. The official sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Andover residents interested in getting their garage sale included on the city directory can stop by Andover City Hall to fill out a form or visit the city’s website (www.ci.andover.mn.us) to fill out the form and mail it.

Andover City Hall’s address is 1685 Crosstown Blvd. N.W., Andover, MN 55304.

There is no cost to get your home address added to the directory, but the registration deadline is May 10. After that, the city will compile its directory for public distribution May 15.

For the first time, the Andover Community Center will rent out space in its fieldhouse from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

“It’s a great opportunity to display their garage sale items without worrying about the weather or creating a mess at their house,” said Cindy Ramseier, administrative assistant for the community center.

According to Ramseier, residents from surrounding communities are invited to sign up for a booth at this one-day indoor garage sale.

People living in rural areas likely have a tougher time getting people to drive by their more secluded homes for garage sales, so this would be a great opportunity for more people to see what they have for sale, Ramseier said.

The reason the fieldhouse will not be available for the citywide garage sale on Thursday or Friday is because the YMCA uses this space on weekdays for its summer programming.

There is a cost to display your items for this indoor garage sale. Ramseier said everyone must rent a 10-foot by 10-foot booth for $20, to keep the sale area orderly and ensure everyone has the same maximum amount of space. There will be an area in the fieldhouse for some larger items. Tables can be rented for $5 and chairs for $1 each, but people can bring their own tables and chairs, Ramseier said.

If you have unsold items you would like to donate, the Salvation Army will be at the Andover YMCA/Community Center May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to collect these items.

For more information about participating in the indoor garage sale, call the main line of the community center at 763-767-5100.

If you have a general question about the three-day citywide garage sale, call city hall at 763-755-5100.
