A stabbing incident at a home on the 10300 block of Partridge Street N.W. Coon Rapids shortly after midnight today (Wednesday April 3) sent one man to the hospital with a suspect being sought.
The victim, a 31-year-old man, suffered a stab wound to the left shoulder blade, according to the Coon Rapids Police report.
“He did not receive a life-threatening injury,” said Coon Rapids Police Det. Brian Eychaner, who is investigating the case.
In fact, the victim told a Coon Rapids Police detective who interviewed him over the phone that he hoped to the released from the hospital later today.
Police received a call of the stabbing from a 28-year-old woman, who reported that her boyfriend had been stabbed on the side by a man, who she only knew by a first name, “Jay.” He fled on foot in a northeast direction on Partridge Street N.W.
According to the police report, the woman described the suspect as a white male in his 30s, with possibly dark hair and wearing a blue and black hoodie.
A canine unit and helicopter were brought in to help search for the suspect without success.
In the statement to police, the woman said she had picked up the suspect at a friend’s house in Shoreview to help her pick out an entertainment center for her friend.
When they arrived at the Partridge Street address, she alleged her boyfriend was intoxicated and started threatening her, then he and the other man got into a fist fight at the bottom of the driveway before her boyfriend ran back up the driveway yelling that he had been stabbed.
According to the police report, officers went with the woman to the friend’s residence in Shoreview, but the suspect was not identified.
“We have no identified suspect at this point,” Eychaner said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Eychaner at 763-767-6407.
