Local auxiliary meets national president

Anoka Post 102 American Legion Auxiliary members Lynette Pavin and Darlene Thell met the National American Legion Auxiliary president at the Richfield-Minneapolis Post 435 during her recent tour of Minnesota.

National President Peggy Thomas spoke of the importance of membership, of the raising of money for the children of our warriors, and of the great need of the country working together to help soldiers coming home after serving the country.

She spoke of visiting troops serving in other countries, having spent Thanksgiving Day with troops in South Korea and visiting a base in Guam, where she saw snake traps attached to fences surrounding the base.

Thomas also shared her experience of visiting troops in Okinawa and standing on top of the USS Arizona on top of 900 soldiers that gave their lives to keep the country and the world free Dec. 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor Day.
