The K-3 school was constructed in 2007 on the southwest corner of 125th Avenue and Cloud Drive. According to the school district’s communications director Jim Elert, Northpoint currently has 30 classrooms plus additional instructional space.

The 7,010 square-foot addition would be on the south side of the building, so the school appearance on the north side on the front of the school facing 125th Avenue would remain the same. The addition will be open this fall in time for the start of the 2013-2014 school year.

This is not the only facility that the School District 16 is expanding. It will be adding 10 more classrooms to Park Terrace Elementary in Spring Lake Park. Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg has reported that districtwide enrollment is estimated to increase by about 20 percent in the next eight to 10 years.
