Girls’ lacrosse preview


2012 finish: 0-12.

Coach: Derek Johnson, third season with Andover.

Return players: Carly Haskins, Kaeli Kraker and Katie Ruprecht.

Outlook: Johnson hopes another year of experience playing the newest sport at Andover will translated in more wins this spring.


2012 finish: 4-15, 10th in NWSC; 5-17 overall, lost in section 7AAA quarterfinals.

Coach: Dennis Osbeck.

Return players: Captains Jenny Chamberlain and Whitney Nietz and assistant captains Rachael Foster and Danika Whalen.

Outlook: Look for the Bengals to improve on a three-win season last spring and finish among the middle of the pack in the Northwest Suburban Conference.

Coon Rapids

2012 finish: 8-1, tied for first place in the NWSC and 12-3 overall, lost in the Section 4 quarterfinals to White Bear Lake 12-11.

Coach: Jeff DeJoy, fifth season at Coon Rapids.

Return players: Senior attacker Sammi DeJoy 144 goals, 202 points; senior defender Rachel Droubie, 23 goals and 43 career points; and junior goalie Alison Weber, who posted 12 wins last season with a .530 saves percentage.

Outlook: The defending Northwest Suburban Conference champions return a lot of their firepower, led by Sammi DeJoy’s all-time program high mark of 202 points. She has scored in 32 straight matches coming into this season and in 52 of 59 of her career prep matches.
