The Anoka Women of Today will host a women’s expo Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held in the community room at Anoka City Hall.
The focus of this event is to get in touch with women of the community and bring awareness to the Anoka Women of Today organization. Formed in 1960, the group is centered around giving back to the community, developing individual talents and making new friends. Current members come from Anoka, Andover, Ramsey and Coon Rapids.
At the expo local businesses and artisans will showcase spring products and trends. Attendees can shop special sales, sign up for prizes, learn how to get involved in the community.
This Women’s Expo is being held to put a spotlight on the Anoka Women of Today’s efforts to support the local community through volunteer work, fund-raising, youth education, senior care and providing a fun environment for area women to connect and work together.
The organization will be accepting new members, sharing success stories of projects done throughout that past year and encourage young women to get involved with the community.
Anoka Women of Today’s recent projects include the American Cancer Society Relay for Life silent auction, sidewalk sales concession stand for Friendship Ventures camperships, Riverfest concession stand for the outstanding young adult scholarship, Spooktacular Carnival before the Halloween parade, Christmas Committee distribution for the needy and the annual Easter egg hunt. The group also partners with other programs such as Feed My Starving Children, the Sandwich Project for the homeless, Isaac’s Journey for childhood cancer and Kody’s Closet.
