Hansen spent his high school years living in Ham Lake, learning comedy from his parents and personal experience.

“Both of my parents loved to laugh,” Hansen said about Don and Doris Hansen. “Laughter is in my genes.”

According to Hansen, he realized he was funny at age 10, although he officially began his career in comedy taking the stage at Mickey Finns.

That first night in 1977, Hansen said, his goal was to remember his 15-minute comedy routine.

He did just that and a lifetime of performing in front of audiences began.

Hansen has won five Minnesota Comedian of the Year awards.

He has appeared on HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central and A&E.

Hansen said he is known for his sharp audience interaction and “hit and run” style of comedy, which pokes fun at the Minnesota situation.

His stop in Ham Lake is one of a select places on his final comedy tour. Throughout the year, Hansen will perform throughout Minnesota, taking the stage at locations that hold a special place in his comedy past.

At the tour’s completion, Hansen said he will stop touring, but will continue to do comedy shows for corporate events and holiday parties.

Hansen performs Friday, April 19 at Majestic Oaks Golf Club, 701 Bunker Lake Blvd. N.E., Ham Lake.

Dinner is at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.

General admission tickets are $16.95 in advance or $21.95 at the door. Dinner show with Italian buffet tickets are $34.95 in advance or $39.95 at the door.
