Mowing for three COR properties will be contracted out.
The Ramsey City Council April 9 unanimously approved a contract with Village Green Landscapes to mow the seven-acre Draw Park, the area around the municipal center and the Northstar Commuter Rail station for a total of $738.09 per week.
Although it would be cheaper for the public works department to do the mowing in-house, there is not enough administrative staff to oversee any additional seasonal staff beyond the 18-24 workers the city hires annually, said Mark Riverblood, parks and assistant public works superintendent
Village Green was the lowest of three bids, he said.
The $73.91 per week for the rail station mowing will be charged to Metro Transit, which operates the station, plus an $85 contract administration and quality control fee each week that work is performed, Riverblood said.
Approximately $410 per month would be coming from Metro Transit for the contract and rest will be paid from the park’s operation budget, he said.
