Brenda Schramm-Vrchota
54
Born April 11, 1958 formerly of Andover, Minnesota, passed away December 21, 2012 in Sisseston, SD of Stage 4 breast cancer.
Brenda attended schools in the Fridley/Spring Lake Park area, but graduated from Blaine Sr. High in 1977 where she met some of her mischievous, long-time friends. Some of her lifetime friends (Karen, Bea, Laura, Lissa, Eileen, Mary) and her Sisseton Sisters lovingly helped care for her until she passed.
She became a beautician and was also an employee of Miller Research, FMC, ECM Publishing, Mr. T’s Dry Cleaning, and Buffalo Lake Restaurant.
Brenda had two children, AJ and Adri, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed staying at home as a full-time homemaker, and loved to garden, cook, and decorate her home. When her mother, Bernice, passed, she made the pies. In Sisseton, Brenda was a member of several local community clubs, where she met many of her friends. Brenda was an avid reader of romance novels and eventually wrote a trilogy of books herself, under the pen name of Bren Austin. “Men, Murder and Margaritas”, and “Dancers, Danger, and Daiquiris” were published while the third was in rough form but not completed.
Her second marriage led her to Sisseton in 2008. She was able to tame cattle, like her father, Alvin, and was called the “cow whisperer”. Brenda enjoyed hanging out with her family, friends from her two villages, including her Minnesota Girls and Sisseton Sisters, and her Cumberland cabin family. When Brenda was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal breast cancer in Oct. 2010, she opted to handle her cancer with holistic methods, positive thinking and praying for a miracle. She wanted to live life well, not ill. She was able to outlive her many death dates given her, and most importantly “kept all of her hair.” Her final joke was leaving our world on the last day of the Mayan calendar and the first day of this long winter.
She was preceded in death by her lovely parents, Alvin and Bernice Freudenberg Schramm of Blaine, MN
She is survived by son and daughter, Austin and Adriana Johnson, of Anoka County.
