First Lutheran Church, the Faith Community Nurse Program of Mercy and Unity Hospitals – part of Allina Health – and Anoka County Family Caregiver Connection are hosting a free memory screening, in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association of America at First Lutheran Church, Columbia Heights, Saturday, May 18.
Registration is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. followed by two sessions – 10 to 11 a.m., What Are the Signs of Memory Loss?; and 11 a.m. to noon, memory screenings.
Completing a memory screening is the first step in finding out if an individual has a memory problem, but it does not replace a consultation with a qualified health care professional.
Early detection of memory loss provides an opportunity for health care professionals to treat the disease and possibly slow the progression of memory loss. Early detection can also improve quality of life by connecting individuals and their families to supportive resources.
