Two Memorial Day weekend services

The annual Memorial Day weekend services presented by the Anoka County Veterans Council will take place Saturday, May 25 at two locations in the county.

The first ceremony will be at the Morningside Memorial Gardens Field of Honor, 11800 University Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids, at 10 a.m., beginning with a parade to the cemetery from 117th Avenue.

The second service will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Bunker Hills Regional Park War Memorial, Foley Boulevard and Main Street, Coon Rapids.

Taking part in the ceremonies will be American Legion and VFW posts and auxiliaries in Anoka County as well as the Military Order of the Cooties, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, 40/8, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and veterans from Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan.

A family picnic provided  by the veterans council will follow the second ceremony in Bunker Hills Regional Park.

Everything will be furnished by the veterans organizations.
