Anoka to mark Memorial Day with service at Forest Hills

1st Lt. Jared Bachelder will be the guest speaker at Anoka’s annual Memorial Day service.

The service takes place Monday, May 27, 10 a.m., at the site of the Anoka Veterans Memorial at Forest Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is located at West Main Street and Highway 10 in Anoka.

Along with the guest speaker, the service features the North Suburban Concert Band, student recitations and memorials to the veterans.

Bachelder joined the Minnesota National Guard in 2002 and obtained his Commission as a Second Lieutenant on Aug. 2, 2009.

Bachelder is presently the Assistant Effects Coordinator for the 2nd Battalion, 136th Combat Armor Brigade.

The lieutenant has held the duty assignments of Company Fire Support Officer with Company C of the 2 Battalion 136th Combat Armor Brigade, Platoon Leader of the 1st Platoon, C Battery, 1st Battalion 125th Field Artillery while stationed in Arifjan, Kuwait, and Ground Liaison Officer of the 4th Battlefield Coordination Detachment in Qatar, Afghanistan, and aboard the USS Enterprise and USS Eisenhower.

During his career Bachelder has received the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, NATO Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon 2nd Award, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, US Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.
