A program on the invasion of Normandy, known as D-Day, will be presented by Coon Rapids Senior Services at the Coon Rapids Civic Center Monday, June 3, 10 a.m. to noon.
Military historian Dan Hartman is the speaker. He has taught a number of college classes and has personally visited many of the battlefields he talks about.
The program will examine the events of June 6, 1944, the launch of the World War II D-Day invasion of Europe by the Allies and the following Normandy campaign which led to the liberation of Paris Aug. 25, 1944.
Using an extensive visual display which includes maps of the invasion plans and a photo “travelogue” of the Normandy beaches as they look today, Hartman will talk about the impact the Normandy invasion had on World War II, the plans for the operation and what actually happened.
The cost is $3. Call 763-767-6473 to register.
