Miyah Dupey, 10, Coon Rapids, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Minnesota Pageant, which will take place June 1 and 2 at the Doubletree in Bloomington.
The pageant is for girls ages four to 18 and has five different age divisions. Dupey will be competing in the pre-teen division.
The pageant winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California.
The National American Miss Pageant activities and competitions are kept age appropriate.
Girls under the age of 12 are not allowed to wear make-up and there is no swimsuit competition.
Inner-beauty as well as poise and presentation are what the judges are looking for in the contestants.
Emphasis is on developing self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship as well as setting and achieving personal goals.
Dupey’s activities include dance, playing traveling soccer, volunteering and captaining the school patrol.
She also enjoys swimming, acting and playing outside.
