Memorial Day services held at four Coon Rapids locations
Saluting the sacrifice made by soldiers fighting to preserve and protect American freedoms, Memorial Day services were held at four Coon Rapids sites.
Flags were raised, wreaths laid, taps played and gun salutes fired to honor and memorialize local soldiers.
Services were conducted by members of the Coon Rapids American Legion, Coon Rapids VFW and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 39 and took place at Epiphany Cemetery, Joyce Chapel Cemetery, the American Legion Post 334 and VFW Post 9625.
Following a Memorial Day Mass at the Church of the Epiphany, parishioners walked to the cemetery for services presented by the Coon Rapids American Legion, the Coon Rapids VFW and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 39. Here, Rev. Michael Johnson reads from I Thessalonians 4:13-14, “Do not grieve at those who have fallen asleep... For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” Photo by Sue Austreng
