Ready to get muddy?

The latest outdoor adventure racing craze, the Mud Games, is coming to Blaine June 8-9 or more specifically the Metro Gun Club, 10601 Naples St. N.E., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

More than 5,500 people have registered and organizers estimate more than 8,000 people will take part in the first Mud Games to be held in the Twin Cities or Blaine. Participants traverse one of two muddy obstacle course covering either 1.5 miles with six obstacles or 3.1 miles with 13 obstacles. Obstacles include a double-decker tire run, rope swing, vertical rope climb, rope web, uneven balance beam, trench crawl and, of course, mud crawl.

Proceeds raised through registration fees and concessions will be donated to Children’s Hospitals and Clinics and P90X creator Tony Horton will serve at race marshal both days.

Registration remains open and costs $51.32 for the 1.5-mile course and $65.88 for the 3.1-mile version.
