Entries are still being taken for the annual Coon Rapids 4th of July celebration parade, which will take place Wednesday, July 3, rain or shine.
Deadline for submitting an entry form for the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club-sponsored event is June 7.
The parade begins and ends at Sand Creek Park, 1008 Northdale Blvd. N.W.
Line-up begins at 4 p.m. and the parade starts at 6 p.m.
The roads leading to the park will close at 5:30 p.m.; no admittance to the line-up area will be allowed after that time, according to Diane Buszta, Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club member and parade chairperson.
Parade information packets with line-up details will be mailed to all accepted applicants by June 15, Buszta said.
All units will pay a $50 entrance fee. Exempt from this policy are visiting royalty floats and bands. Make checks payable to “Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club.” All fees must accompany application.
“If you are requesting a fee to participate in the Coon Rapids parade, please indicate so on your parade application,” Buszta said.
“There is a very limited budget for paid units. The parade committee will consider your request and contact you upon receipt of the entry form.”
According to Buszta, because of safety concerns, no candy, printed matter or materials of any kind can be thrown or tossed from floats, vehicles or other parade units while on the parade route; these items must be handed out by walkers curbside.
Parade applications can be mailed to Diane Buszta, 11345 Uplander St. N.W., Coon Rapids, MN 55433
