Felony charges against Isanti man dismissed

Felony domestic assault and terroristic threats charges against an Isanti man have been dismissed by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.

The case against Jack Leonard Williams, 44, was dropped May 13 because the county attorney’s office could not get the witness to testify and there was not enough evidence to proceed, according to spokesperson Amanda Vickstrom.

Williams’ ex-girlfriend had accused him of choking and punching her and threatening to kill her and hide her body where nobody would find it, according to the criminal complaint. She alleged this happened Feb. 20 while they were driving from Isanti to Andover.

The domestic assault charge had been elevated to felony-level because Williams was convicted 2009 in Anoka County for violating an order for protection and violating a domestic abuse no contact order.
