Callies wins leadership award

Coon Rapids High School graduate Cayla Callies has been named 2013 recipient of the annual Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

Callies has volunteered more than 1,000 hours during her four years in high school. She has been a member of the Future Educators Club, which focuses on teaching. She is also a member of Youth Teaching Youth (4-H), Link Crew, FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) and is a Cardinal Pal.

In addition, Callies has been a member of the handbell choir for nine years and has taught Sunday school for seven years.  She has served in the Girl Scouts for 12 years and won its national Silver Award.

Callies will attend the College of St. Catherine in the fall.
