Concert to benefit area foodshelves

Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids is sponsoring Share the Hope, a benefit concert event for the Cross of Christ and Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) food shelves.

Share the Hope will take place on Saturday, June 15 at George Green Park, 1498 Sixth Ave., Anoka, from 3 to 7 p.m.

The concert will feature Mike Westendorf, a professional Christian artist with an ability to draw an audience into the songs and the moments they describe.

From Milwaukee, Wis., Westendorf has been touring and recording for the past 10 years.

Westendorf is finishing up his latest single “You Are” which will be included on a compilation CD from Creative Soul Records, Nashville, Tenn. His most recent CD, “Emmanuel Has Come,” was released Christmas 2012.

Share the Hope is a family-oriented community event.

Thanks to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, $5 Pizza, Chris & Rob’s-Chicago’s Taste Authority, Macaroni Kid, Goodyear – Coon Rapids, Groups Plus Inc., Hanson Builders Inc., Jonathan Homes, Synergy Builders, Inc., Universal Spray & Drywall, Inc. and Barna, Guzy & Steffen, this event is free and open to the public.

To benefit the Cross of Christ and ACBC food shelves, all guests are asked to bring non-perishable food donations – one item per person. Games and concessions will begin at 3 p.m. with the concert to follow at 5 p.m.

Bring lawn chairs. Parking attendants and greeters will be on hand to welcome and direct guests. Refreshments will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the food shelves.
