A variety of music will be presented at the third Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s free, outdoor summer concert of the 2013 season.
Dan Perry and Ice Cream will perform Thursday, June 20, 7 p.m., in the performance pavilion at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.
The group plays 1960s and 1970s classic rock, rhythm and blues, pop, jazz and original music, according to its website.
The band draws musicians from all over the Twin Cities.
Besides Perry on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, the band comprises Jim Allen, bass guitar and vocals; Anne Atchison, piano; Christine Brough, flute and saxophone; Joe Brough, keys, hats and vocals; Julie Conzemius, vocals; Jennifer Kehler, vocals; Julie Keller, vocals; Rose Kubiatowicz, mandolin; Joanne Pauley, vocals; Laurie Peterman, vocals; and Joe Scanlan, drums.
Dan Perry and Ice Cream has been performing since 2007.
Eight of the nine Thursday Nites Live at the Dam concerts scheduled this year are at the regional park, courtesy of the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department, with one concert scheduled at the Sand Creek Park, Coon Rapids, Aug. 8.
There will be no concert Thursday, July 4, because of the annual Fourth of July celebration and fireworks display that night at Sand Creek Park.
All the concerts start at 7 p.m. in the series which runs through Aug. 8.
The remaining concerts are:
• Thursday, June 27 – Bellows & Brass, old-time music.
• Thursday, July 11 – Minnesota Sinfonia, symphony.
• Thursday, July 18 – Island Time Band, steel drums.
• Thursday, July 25 – D.L. Cajun, cajun music.
• Thursday, Aug. 1 – Ecuador Manta, Ecuadoran music.
• Thursday, Aug. 8 – Rockie Lynne, country (Sand Creek Park).
The concerts in the performance pavilion at the regional park take place rain or shine.
People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket on which to sit.
Food and beverages will be available to purchase, and Anoka County waives the $5 parking fee at the regional park for the concerts.
