Emily Kallis, Miss Coon Rapids 2013, was third runner-up in the 2013 Miss Minnesota Scholarship Pageant at Eden Prairie High School Performing Arts Center June 15.
Kallis was one of 22 young women competing for the Miss Minnesota title and a place in the Miss America Scholarship Pageant.
Crowned Miss Minnesota 2013 was Rebecca Yeh, Miss Northwest.
Second runner-up was Samantha Phillippi, who was Miss Coon Rapids 2012 and was a contestant in the 2013 state pageant as Miss Minneapolis.
Kallis’ talent for the Miss Minnesota Pageant was dance and her platform focused on positive youth development.
She was born in Canada and is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada.
A graduate of Frazee High School, Kallis is a senior at Bethel University, where she is majoring in organizational communications.
Her goal is to pursue a career in public relations or communications for a not-for-profit organization dealing with youth intervention and positive youth development.
Together with the Coon Rapids Junior Royalty, Kallis will be representing Coon Rapids on the Coon Rapids Snowflake Days float at parades this summer and fall, as well as at other events.
Kallis and the junior royalty will be riding on the float at the Coon Rapids Fourth of July celebration parade, which will take place Wednesday, July 3.
