Registrations are being taken for the annual children’s safety camp put on by the Coon Rapids Fire and Police departments.
Open to children entering fourth and fifth grades this fall, the camp will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, July 23 and 24, at Sand Creek Park.
The camp gives participants a chance to learn a variety of safety skills including water safety, fire safety, electrical safety, basic first aid and how to use 911.
A graduation ceremony will be 7 p.m. July 24 in the auditorium at Coon Rapids High School.
The $40 registration fee covers supplies, a T-shirt, snacks and lunch each day as well as transportation to and from the swimming pool.
However, $15 scholarships are available to children based on the free and reduced lunch program.
