Books by mail in Anoka County
The library is a lot closer than many people think.
In the case of the Anoka County Library, some residents have to go no further than their mailbox to check out a book, record, tape or magazine.
Those residents who are homebound on either a temporary or permanent basis may receive materials through the mail, explained Janet Kleckner, outreach librarian for the Anoka County Library System.
The Books by Mail program, which currently serves about two dozen Anoka County residents, was initiated in the early 1980s as a way of assisting handicapped or shut-in residents who have a lot of time on their hands and a love for reading.
