Wagner, Jerome Earl, age 89, of Roseville (Hunce, Jerry)
After trying to recover from a fall and broken hip, died peacefully in the arms of his family on June 15, 2013
Born in the North End of St. Paul on 9/23/23 to Joe and Annie Wagner, he served in the US Navy in the Pacific in WWII and in the Navy Reserves for some years after. He graduated from Macalester College ’50, Masters in Education ’51. He taught Biology at Anoka H.S. for 40 years with a several year interlude at the Science Museum of Minnesota. With his passion for nature, he served on the boards of the Minnesota Zoo, the Izaac Walton League- Breckenridge Chapter and the Citizen Advisory Council of the Capitol Region Watershed District. He loved young people, folk dancing, fly fishing, canoeing and any time he could be outdoors with students, friends and family.
He is preceded in death by grandson, Corey A. Nielsen and first wife, Alice Perry Wagner.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Lindeke, sister Cleo Palfe of MN, brother, Joseph(Joyce) Wagner of WI, children Christy (Boyd) Nielsen of IL, Carol(Charlie)Zinsmaster of WI, Ken (Terri) Wagner of MN, Karen Wagner of OR, Karl Wagner of MN, Kurt(Judy)Wagner of UT, Chris(Annie) Wagner of VT, Danny(Mary) Wagner of TX, Peter Wagner of Brazil, Mary Kate (Jared)Kenworthy of TX and Amy(Dave) Archambault of MN; 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as well as many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews and dear friends. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home, 2130 N. Dale St., Roseville, MN. 55113, Friday, July 12,2013 6-9 PM. Memorial Service will be at St. John The Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 Kent St., St. Paul. MN. 55102 at 2PM Saturday, July 13, 2013. Interment will be private.
