The city of Coon Rapids will again be reconstructing a sewer lift station this year as part of its five-year sanitary sewer capital improvement program.
On the docket this year is Lift Station No. 8, which is located at 10320 Mississippi Blvd.
The Coon Rapids City Council June 18 approved plans and specifications for the project prepared by SEH, Inc., which was retained to provide engineering services for the project.
The council also ordered advertising for bids on the project with a contract award scheduled for its Aug. 7 meeting.
According to Tim Himmer, Lift Station No. 8, located at 10320 Mississippi Blvd., serves an area in the southwest part of Coon Rapids along Mississippi Boulevard.
“The lift station is at an end of its useful life and needs to be replaced,” Himmer wrote in a report to the council.
The estimated cost of the project is $600,000 with SEH’s contract not to exceed $68,565.
Funding for the project comes from the sanitary sewer fund, which derives its revenues from the quarterly utility bills paid by property owners in the city.
