Using the San Jose Calif., flea market as its inspiration, the Coon Rapids VFW Post 9625 Ladies Auxiliary has built a reptile exhibit, musical entertainment and a book signing into its July 13 flea market, car boot sale and expo.
The open air event, rain or shine, runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1919 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW.
“All on their own flea markets are interesting and fun, but why not add some bonus fun,” said Mary Kaye Kath, VFW Ladies Auxiliary member and one of the event’s coordinators.
The event will also include a food booth. “What we offer always goes over really well, but one of these times we may very well come up with a truly exotic food offering,” Kath said.
Future VFW flea market events could include a rat rod gathering of some kind, according to Kath, “Rat rods are a party on wheels,” Kath said. “If we can get some rat rodders to park here at a future event, we’ll go for it.”
Suggestions are welcome and encouraged on what could be part of a future flea market, car boot sale and expo, she said.
According to Kath, the icing to the cake for what they call their flea market, car boot sale and expo is that the funds raised through space rentals to vendors and food booth sales are used to help people through various projects that serve community needs.
