The Family Promise of Anoka County Board of Directors is seeking members to serve on its board of directors.
Family Promise is the only nonprofit interfaith hospitality network in Anoka County for families with dependent children experiencing homelessness. Family Promise offers temporary emergency shelter, supports families with advocacy to find permanent, stable homes and provides ongoing supportive services to help families maintain financial, family and personal stability.
“While this may be a nontraditional approach to recruiting board members, considering the importance of the work we do in the community, it makes sense that we open the opportunity for board leadership to the community,” said Mark Tiede, Family Promise board member and pastor of welcome and missions at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka.
The Family Promise board provides strategic leadership, maintains fiduciary responsibility, establishes policies and strategies, provides oversight and assessment of programs and sets the direction and annual goals of the organization.
“We’re seeking high-quality board members for a high-quality organization,” said Velma Korbel, Family Promise board chairperson.
“In addition to being stewards of FPAC, board members are expected to be ambassadors for the organization, cultivate donors and oversee donor relations, make a personal financial contribution to the organization and attend monthly board meetings.”
Board member candidates are nominated and elected by the board of directors. They serve a maximum of three, three-year terms.
