A day-long Smart Kids program will be hosted by Cub Scout Pack 419 at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park Saturday, July 20, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
While the event is put on by the Cub Scout pack, it is open to all children in the community ages six to 12, according to Cubmaster Matt Johnson.
This is the third year of the program, which was called safety awareness event in 2012.
The focus will be on fun and safety.
Topics and presentations will be on bullying, childhood obesity, physical fitness, CPR, first aid, fire safety, electrical safety and Internet safety.
Presenters include Allina Wellness Van, Mercy Hospital, Allina Health EMS and Bike Team, Coon Rapids fire and police departments, Connexus Energy and Anoka County Community Health Department.
There will also be a bike rodeo; kids should bring their bike and helmet if they have one.
In addition, the event will feature a dunk tank plus prizes.
“This is open to all kids and their parents,” Johnson said.
There is no charge for the event except $3 for parents to eat if they stay, he said.
All kids attending will get a T-shirt, bike helmet and food.
Register by email to [email protected] by July 6 with kids’ name, age, shirt size and parent information.
